Festival des Musiques du Monde in Merzouga

Deep within the majesty of the Erg Chebbi dunes — Morocco’s biggest — lies Merzouga, host to its own International Festival of World Music. Each spring, the festival puts on a program like no other.

Treat yourself to the exceptional setting of this oasis curled up in the desert’s dunes, interact in the convivial ambiance and discover local and international music. Be sure not to miss the sunrise in Merzouga, reputed to be the most beautiful in the world.

Take a camel trek or camp out in the desert to make your trip unforgettable. There are also sports opportunities and the famous spa treatment that consists in being buried in the warm dunes of the desert. Thanks to the unique setting, the festival is an occasion for partying and promoting eco-friendly behaviors and environmental protection. The schedule included seminars, performances, children’s workshops, an environmental day and plenty of concerts where emerging Moroccan talents interacted with international virtuosos. In a magical demonstration of personal commitment, tourists and locals worked hand in hand to clean the huge dunes in the surrounding desert. The festival succeeds in uniting all cultures in their shared passions: music and preserving nature.
